OUR KITCHEN

At Footprints, we take great care to ensure that all our meals are nutritious, balanced, and inclusive of every child’s individual needs. Our menus are thoughtfully planned to introduce a variety of seasonal ingredients, encouraging children to develop healthy eating habits and an enjoyment of good food from an early age. Milk and water are the only drinks offered, as we think this is better for their teeth and general health. Fresh filtered drinking water is available to them at all times.

At Footprints, we recognise that adequate and nutritious food and drink are essential for children’s well-being. We therefore offer a balanced, healthy, nutritional range of food that your child will enjoy.
Wherever possible, we use local or organic produce and all meals are freshly prepared and cooked on the premises by our qualified and highly experienced in-house chef.

Making food
enjoyable
The children are offered breakfast, lunch, and tea at the nursery, with a snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon. We try to make the whole approach to food a very positive experience, and the children look forward to mealtimes as a social event. Where possible, staff eat with the children and join in the social setting of sitting around the table.
As children will be staying for breakfast, lunch, and tea, we ask parents not to provide any food or snacks from home.



Meeting their five
a day requirements
Your child’s five-a-day requirements are always met and usually exceeded, as we offer as much fresh fruit and vegetables as possible in the menus. We also grow some fruit and salad in our garden, so that children begin to understand where their food comes from. Special attention is paid to dietary needs on religious and health grounds.
OUR MENUS

In line with our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, our menus are low in added sugar and designed to provide natural energy through fresh, wholesome ingredients. The children particularly enjoy taking part in food-related activities such as baking, tasting, and gardening projects, which help them learn about ingredients and make positive food choices.
We are very mindful of allergies, dietary requirements, and individual food preferences, and our kitchen team works closely with staff and parents to ensure that every child’s needs are met safely and appropriately. Separate preparation areas and clear labelling systems are in place to avoid cross-contamination and to maintain the highest standards of food safety.
We have 10 different balanced daily menus on rotation at Footprints with additional vegetarian options available daily .

Conisbee & Son supply us all year around with high quality local meat. All of their meat comes either from their own farm or other local farms with the highest standards of farming husbandry.
Ripley Farm Shop

Ripley Farm shop is a family-owned farm shop based locally in Ripley. All of the fruit and vegetables from Ripley Farm shop are grown using organic methods and without pesticides.
Organic seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables include; cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, kale, pumpkins, peppers, artichokes, tomatoes, Aspergers and cucumbers; strawberries, pears, apples, mangos, papaya, tangerines, figs, lemons, limes and raspberries.

Quality butchers

Conisbee & Son supply us all year around with high quality local meat. Conisbee & Son are the oldest family butchers in Surrey and are based in East Horsley. They have gained a strong reputation over two hundred and fifty years. Currently run by the ninth generation of the Conisbee family, they provide us with the highest quality meats around.
All of their meat comes either from their own farm or other local farms with the highest standards of farming husbandry.
Tableware, Crockery, and Fresh Flowers

Each room has their own unique tableware , tablecloths and aprons. From the age of 2 years we use china plates, cups and dishes and glasses for water to teach the children to be careful, and surprisingly we rarely have any breakages. Flowers are also placed on the tables in the older rooms when available and children are taught the names of them.
