EYLOG

eyLog (Early Years Log) is an online, secure, web and tablet-based software solution used by nurseries and childcare providers to record, monitor, and assess a child's early development and progress. It aims to reduce paperwork and enhance communication between practitioners and parents. Using Eylog, and our weekly observation updates, we will suggest ways in which you can support and enhance your child’s learning and development.
What is Eylog?

-
Online Learning Journeys
Practitioners can capture a child's key moments and daily activities using photos, videos, and audio clips, along with written observations. These are compiled into a digital learning journey that parents can access in real-time.
-
Parental Engagement
Parents receive secure, unique login credentials to view their child's progress from a computer or smartphone via a web portal or the dedicated eyparent app. They are automatically notified via email when new content is added.
-
Two-Way Communication
Parents can contribute to their child's learning journey by adding their own observations and photos from home, which are then reviewed by nursery staff. A secure messaging system also facilitates communication between parents and nursery managers.
-
Assessment and Planning
Observations are linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and other custom assessment curricula to track progress and identify any developmental gaps. This helps key persons plan "next steps" and tailored activities for each child.
-
Daily Diary
For younger children, the app tracks daily routines such as meals, sleep times, nappy changes, and health information (e.g., medicine forms, accident reports).

How does it work?
EyLog is an electronic application which can be accessed from a tablet or the web. It is used to capture picture, videos and audio clips of a child’s activity within nursery or at home. Within the nursery these observations combined with written statements are linked directly to the EYFS and development plans and next steps of a child’s progress highlighted.

Is it Secure?
Security is of key concern at Footprints and eyLog takes its security measures very seriously. eyLog offers fully locked-down secure tablet devices to ensure they are not misused in any manner – Facebook, e-mails, etc., are all disabled on these specially configured high-security tablets. Each user has a separate user-ID and password and using a role-based access mechanism, a user is permitted to see only the information that is relevant for them.

eyLog uses the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt all communication between the server and the tablets. All data is stored on secure Cloud-based servers in data centres located here in UK. All data is regularly backed-up onto redundant systems.
